In order to make a place to honor patriots, it is first essential to define patriotism. A patriot in the US is one who is willing to give all that is necessary for them to give to uphold principles of liberty, while abiding by the laws of the land. A patriot will do more than wave the flag, they will sacrifice if necessary for what it stands for, to risking their own life if required.
Certainly our soldiers qualify, as do the parents, spouses, and loved ones who support their sacrifice. Individuals who teach and uphold the Constitution as the governing law of our land also qualify. People who understand that in order to allow liberty for all, they must not bind their neighbors with unfair laws are also patriots in a deep but much misunderstood sense.
