Integrity has been described as "doing the right thing even when you think no one will know if you don't". It has its foundations in honesty, but it is more than just refraining from actively lying, it includes insuring that you don't leave out critical information just because the other person does not know to ask, and avoiding any kind of behavior that might deceive or mislead another, by ommission, or commission. Integrity is the friend who wrote me a letter to apologize for thinking badly of me, even though I had never known that she had done so. Integrity is honoring a debt even when the law would allow you to avoid it. Integrity is volunteering information about the flaws in an item you are selling so that the buyer can make an informed choice. Integrity is apologizing to your child when you offended them, even though they were not mature enough to realize the error was yours.
