Character is all about making the hard choices. Someone with character can make them, stand up in the face of opposition (even when it hurts to do so), and not give in. Character is one part self-discipline, one part conviction, and one part sheer determination and stubbornness.
If you are possessed of uncommon character, you'll make more enemies. Not because you are rude or obnoxious, but because a firm belief in right is bound to offend eventually. You'll also make lifelong friends, of people you may never meet, because an example of strength in the defense of right is such a powerful influence that we will never truly know the scope of it.
